[Lacanian-Orientation-US] Omaha : Lacanian Workshop : December 2009 : "Towards Paris"

The Lacanian Workshop

The Members of the Circle for the Lacanian Orientation of Omaha (CLOO) present a new forum for the discussion of psychoanalysis: the clinical practice of psychoanalysis, but also the theories that have evolved from psychoanalysts such as Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan and the intersection of psychoanalysis with other fields in mental health, medicine, and the broader world of society and culture.

This new project is not a course, but rather a place where people can present work that they are engaged in for discussion with colleagues.

The Lacanian Workshop is presented by CLOO, in collaboration with the Division of Psychoanalysis of the Creighton University Department of Psychiatry.

All sessions of the Workshop are open and there is no registration fee, but people interested in attending a session must register with Thomas Svolos at tsvolos@radiks.net.

The sessions are held from 1100-1230 on Fridays.

Upcoming Sessions:

We will have one session in December, to be held on December 11.

This session, and several sessions for 2010, are under the rubric "Towards Paris." These will be sessions dedicated to the examination of the semblant and the sinthome, two concepts from the work of Lacan that are the theme of the next Congress of the World Association to be held in Paris in April, 2010 (http://www.congresoamp.com/en/template.php).

For our meeting on December 11, Thomas Svolos will lead a discussion of Jacques-Alain Miller's "Reflections on the Formal Envelope of the Symptoms," which is posted at http://semblantsandsinthome.wordpress.com/2009/11/24/text-reflections-on-the-formal-envelope-of-the-symptom-ja-miller/
